The restoration of the Basilica of San Giorgio
The San Giorgio Maggiore Church is one of the most important works attributed to Andrea Palladio. Built in Istrian stone at the end of the16th century, the facade was commissioned by the Benedictine monks after Palladio built the refectory and cloister. For over four centuries, San Giorgio has adorned the St. Mark’s basin, with Palazzo Ducale and the Salute Church, a beautiful perspective that is immortalised in the paintings by Venetians, Guardi and Canaletto.
