Records dating back to 1124 speak of a San Dionigi church and its bell tower. Later historical documents speak of the re-construction of the church and bell tower in the mid 16th century, in the name of the San Pietro di Felletto parish, although no trace of this church remains.
The actual Church and bell tower were rebuilt between 1874 and 1924 after a devastating earthquake in 1873. Dottor executed a conservative restoration of the damaged bell tower.
