The restoration of the former Convent of San Francesco

At the end of ‘400, this convent, place of deep faith, centre of the Inquisition and extraordinarily, also an artistic and cultural centre, was partially destroyed during Napoleon’s reign. The French troupes only spared a second cloister and the 16th century wing dedicated to the novices.

It became a military facility and hospital until 1894, when it was converted into a scholastic institution. Famous cinematic director Pier Paolo Pasolini attended the school in 1932 and was among the most brilliant in his class.
