A monumental stairway leads to the Santa Augusta sanctuary within the walls of an ancient fortress at the centre of Serravalle, situated 350 meters above sea level near Vittorio Veneto. From here, there is a breathtaking panorama of the city with a view that leads to the Adriatic Sea many miles in the distance.

In 1450, the sanctuary was rebuilt on the ruins of a chapel dating back to the first century. The Battuti friars and other donors financed the work and decoration of the Church to house the sarcophagus with the remains of the martyred saint.
